Six Takeaways from The National Prayer Luncheon for Life

More than 12,000 people tuned in virtually to the annual National Prayer Luncheon for Life from across the country. We worked with Heroic Media, an organization helping to connect women with life-affirming pregnancy resources, to unite and honor the efforts of various organizations dedicated to saving lives from abortion at this event.

A $50,000 Impact Grant Awarded to Youth Organization

Chosen by thousands of pro-life advocates across the country, a $50,000 National Prayer Luncheon for Life Pro-Life Impact Grant was given to Students for Life of America

The grant funds can increase their life-saving work of recruiting, training, and mobilizing youth and young adults to act on their pro-life convictions and work to abolish abortion.

And Then There Were None and Sidewalk Advocates for Life Received Grants

The event also awarded Pro-Life Impact Grants of $20,000 and $15,000, respectively, to And Then There Were None and Sidewalk Advocates for Life for their pro-life work.

Also nominated for the award and grants were Focus on the Family for their Option Ultrasound Program, which helps pro-life pregnancy centers acquire ultrasound machines and sonography training, and the Susan B. Anthony List, which works for the election of women and men who will fight for life in public office.

The Legacy of Hope from MLK

Dr. Alveda King, evangelist and Executive Director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, gave an impassioned plea for hope. She asked all who love life to understand that they are leaders and to continue to treat others with respect in the pattern of Jesus.

The daughter of slain civil rights leader Dr. A.D. King and niece of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., encouraged us to tell the truth about abortion. Dr. Alveda King experienced abortion personally and then was blessed with the gift of six children after her eyes were opened to the truth about the sanctity of life. She encouraged all who suffer from the impact of abortion to seek the hope and healing that are readily available through Christ’s redeeming work.

Missouri, The Abortion-Free State

There are 706 abortion locations in the United States. Forty-five of these have closed or stopped operation last year. Starting at the beginning of 2021, Missouri became America’s first state that became abortion-free in modern time without an operational abortion facility.

Missouri is highlighted as an example of what can be done through determination and prayer. Missouri native, Bridget VanMeans, President and Vision Leader of ThriVe Nation, encouraged all to use their time, talents, and tithes to stop abortion through “the American Miracle.”

Stories From The Hispanic Community

Young Latinas are often lured by the lie of abortion from the deliberate targeting of Planned Parenthood. President of The Vida Initiative, Astrid Bennett Gutierrez, labeled our country as “deadly and dangerous” because of the culture of death that embraces abortion. She offered prayers for young mothers in both Spanish and English.

Call to a Year of Pro-Life Prayer

The National Prayer Luncheon for Life is no longer a single event, but an ongoing initiative. Organizers gave an open invitation to join a powerful task force and prayer team throughout the year.

“We were extremely pleased by the participation, which more than doubled that of previous years,” said Karen Garnett, Vice President of Culture for Heroic Media and Executive Director of National Prayer Luncheon for Life.

“It was wonderful to be able to present pro-life advocates across the country with an opportunity to pray, unite, save lives, and recognize these excellent organizations for their tireless work on behalf of life,” she added. “We are honored to be able to acknowledge and reward them for the impact and significant, measurable differences they are making.”
